Is a complete remodel in your budget?  Or, just a little paint?

A few samples of the many cabinets (and stuff) I have painted.
olive green over oak
white over oak
French Linen AS chalk paint with dark wax over white laminate.
Drift wood (beachy) rustic look over birch cabinets, with SkimStone counter.
Re-glazed cabs to match the refrigerator doors, island doors were repainted using, wood icing, AS chalk paint, fx glaze. Island surface was acid etched using a Modello stencil. Stencil is still in place.
After, hood was painted to look like old plaster, using the same colors as the island doors.
Close up of the island door.
Range hood using AS chalk paint Chateau Gray over white with dark wax.

Front Door, 10'x6'
just lovely!
Close up of the detail, notice the brass studs.
faux patinated bronze on the knocker

Sometimes  painting cabinets revitalizes a kitchen.  Sometimes it doesn't.  Just painting wasn't the case for my kitchen. I wanted major change.

BEFORE  There were 3 doors into my kitchen and a working chimney.  The dimensions are 8'x18'  Click on each picture for the expanded view.
view from living room to the outside entrance, ceiling arch was removed
cabinet next to the refrigertor is mostly a working chimney
Yes, I know it's not my kitchen, I just wanted to show you the fireplace I painted. Prior to this it was a mahogany stain, with a tile hearth. SkimStone over the tile. It's lovely now!

AFTER  This is a great new galley kitchen, with triple the counter space, more efficient, and an open view into the living room.  Ceiling drywall was covered with beadboard, vinyl and subfloor(s) was removed and replaced with hardwood to match the rest of the house.  Outlets and lighting are under the cabs.

better view into the living room achieved by opening the doorway as much as possible, still leave a 6" shelf in front of the chimney
The zinc range hood is a custom painting technique.
Love the mercury glass in the upper cabinets, this is another painting technique.
Everyone needs a magnetic chalk board.
Upholstered banquette under the corner windows, and the open shelves gives the appearance of a much larger room.
These old chairs were painted to look even older. Image transfer technique on the seats.
Closer view of the faux zinc, notice the rivets?
This detail adds to the charm, it had been the the top of an old dresser. Wasn't needed on the dresser anyway.
Price a metal range hood then consider paint.
A closer view of the mercury glass, and the reflection of the beard board on the ceiling.
